Recognise the variant names
Michelin uses Acoustic branding on selected tyres. Pirelli offers PNCS variants, while Continental offers ContiSilent. You may see similar tyre model names with and without these technologies. Our catalogue includes the technology only where it was established in the researched listing.
What foam technology addresses
Continental describes ContiSilent as an internal foam absorber that reduces tyre cavity noise reaching the cabin. It is a noise technology, not a guarantee that every road surface will sound the same. Other contributors to cabin noise still need to be considered.
Comfort starts with a suitable specification
Do not trade the required load or speed rating for a quieter sounding product description. The correct dimensions, ratings and wheel compatibility come first. After that, compare the exact tyre variants, availability and price, with noise and comfort as part of the choice.
Check what is already on the car
Send a clear photo of the tyre name, marking and size. On a staggered car, photograph both front and rear tyres. If you are replacing only one tyre, we need to check the specification of the existing tyre on that axle. A matching brand name does not establish a matching construction or variant.
Ask for a complete quotation
Ask the team to confirm the acoustic variant, production date, country of manufacture, warranty terms and full installation or delivery cost. Avoid assuming a tyre is foam filled simply because it is described as suitable for an EV. The final quote should identify the exact tyre being supplied.
